Why this one exists

This position asks the hips for rotation in both directions at once. It is more of a position than a yank, which is why it works well as a daily sit.

Set up

Sit on the floor. Right knee bent in front at about 90 degrees, left knee bent to the side at about 90 degrees. Both shins rest on the floor.

Steps

  1. Sit as tall as you can without leaning on your hands. Hands on the floor behind you is fine if that is the honest version.
  2. If the hips allow, hinge a little toward the front shin.
  3. Switch by swinging both legs through the other 90/90.

What you should feel

Front hip of the forward leg, outer hip of the back leg. Sitting bones try to stay heavy.

Skip if it hurts

Sit on a cushion, or skip if either knee cannot rest without pain.

Common mistakes

Do not bounce between sides. Park and breathe.
